Space Invaders Slot Review

Space Invaders Slot Review

In this following Space Invaders slot review, you obviously will know how it works. With so many developers dabbling in the retro genre these days, it’s nearly becoming its own genre. If there’s an unspoken rivalry among studios to see who can produce the most retro game, Inspired Gaming’s Space Invaders has to be one of the leading names.

The studio was inspired by a true pioneer, Taito’s Space Invaders, one of the first shoot ’em ups. In this slot, your goal is to weave your ship left and right, firing waves of invaders as they march down the screen in rows. The game may appear simple, yet it quickly became one of the most popular video games of all time.

Basic: Space Invaders Slot Review

As a result, it was ideal for a slot conversion to cash in on the retro trend, which Inspired Gaming has taken advantage of. Remember that the first Space Invaders game came out in 1978, so it’s not exactly a beauty by today’s standards.

The slot version mostly follows the spirit of the original game, but it’s a lot more colorful than the original, more like a 90s improvement than a 70s version. Visually, it’s still an 8-bit wonderland. The audio is spot-on, with rhythmically marching music and pistol bleeps.

The fragrance of a shadowy video game arcade or the aroma of fast food as you blast a few invaders while waiting for your order are the only things lacking.

1. Volatility and RTP

The action of Space Invaders takes place on a 5-reel, 3-row game grid with 20 fixed paylines zigzagging across the screen. Expect a game with a medium-high level of volatility, with a theoretical return value of 95%. The invasion is playable on any device, with stakes ranging from 20p to £/€200 each spin.

2. The Payline

There are eight regular pay symbols in the game, and matching symbols landing in adjacent reels from the leftmost reel result in a reward.

Four blocky space invaders earning 2.5–5 times the stake for five of a kind are low pays, while three space-related graphics and the game’s symbol are high pays. It’s worth 10 to 25 times your bet if you get five premium symbols on a payline.

Wild symbols can also appear automatically on the reels, or they can be introduced to the reels using a couple of the features. Wilds can replace all symbols in the game except the scatter, regardless of how they appear.

3. Slot Features

Space Invaders has a number of features, most of which are tied to the arcade game in some form, such as bonus rounds granted by a wheel that can be bet in the Blueprint Gaming style.

Reel Modifiers

A UFO may fly over the top of the reels at any time during the base game. A gun appears beneath it, and if the cannon hits the UFO, it awards one of five modifiers.

In addition to these modifiers, two more may appear at random after losing base game spins. The UFO modifier beams a beam into a symbol, multiplying it, or a cannon may appear, destroying invading symbols and allowing new symbols to cascade into the gaps.

For good measure, at the end of a base game, the Lock ‘n Spin Invasion modifier can be triggered. When this happens, all instances of a particular symbol type are locked in place for a respin. This process is repeated until no new instances of that symbol appear.

Bonus Game

The bonus round is triggered when three or more bonus coin scatters appear in the base game. A bonus wheel rotates, revealing one of six bonus games that can be collected or gambled on. Gambling either advances players to the next bonus level or gives them a mystery prize.

Spin Chance

You can use the remaining credit on the Spin Chance if your balance falls below the cost of the current spin. If you win, you will be given one more spin; if you lose, your balance will be lost.

Final Summary

The slot, like the original coin-operated game, misses as much as it hits. For one thing, the 8-bit graphics aren’t as appealing as, say, Hellcatraz, though they may grow on you over time.

This is especially true after little adjustments, such as when the UFO flies over and the cannon fires to remove it. The invasion animations are cute, and there are enough nods to the video game that will appeal to fans. It’s difficult to identify why we didn’t fall into the game’s presentation.
